I have an FX-11 on my King Cobra and that makes it as dead on as the M8-4X is on my Anaconda. 4x powered scopes are perfect in the woods, if I can see them through the trees I'll be filling my fridge and freezer.
Bought this handgun scope 3 years ago and mounted it on my Smith and Wesson .460 XVR. After hundreds of rounds at the range and while deer hunting that scope had stood up to the most abusive punishment and recoil (2300 foot pounds) with 200 grain bullet. Never left zero. Love it. Period.
I purchased one of these for my 480 ruger. At first it was great very clear and accurate. After about 150-200 rounds my cross hairs actually shifted and never held zero. I thought okay maybe I got a bad one. Sent it in and they sent me a brand new scope. Well not even 100 rounds into the scope I've had the same issue. Replaced it with a Burris and have more combined rounds with it then I did with both leupolds and it is holding strong.
I have been working at a gun sales counter for 7 years now. I've tried other brands. I always recommend Leupold products. Ive got range finder, binoculars, 4 pistol scopes, 8 rifle scopes from VX1's to VX6's. The issues I have with other products is that bold black line that seams to be around all other products in that price range. Leupold has a crisp clear picture when I raise it up, or snap it to my shoulder. It has just become part of putting a new one together, is deciding which scope to top it off with. These 2 power pistol scopes are perfect for most handguns, for extended range.
I have recently purchased and installed a Leupold FX II on a Ruger handgun. The optics are good. The cheesy, ugly, ill-fitting rubber scope guard is not so good. I wish I had the option to purchase one in plastic. When I try to respond to customer service to ask for a possible substitute, it comes back as not deliverable.
I have two of these scopes on 6.5x47 lapua custom xp-100's. The clarity is good but both suffered from severe parallax problems, both went back to Leupold and are now much better. My shooting is out to 300 yds, target/silhouette so lack of parallax is a huge problem. I have since gone to a Burris 3-12x32 on one pistol, adjustable parallax, better reticle for my usage, a little shorter eye relief for my shorter arms and good clarity. The Leupold is a nice scope but could use a little more power and features to warrant it's premium price.
I own two of these scopes one on a 44 magum Super Redhawk. The other on a 25-06 Thompson Center Encore pistol.
So far the scope has held the zero on my S&W 460. I have fired it maybe 150 times with no complaints other than when I turn the power up, there is a speck of dirt or scratch on the inside of the lens and is right in the crosshairs. Given the cost of the scope, I would not expect this. This is my first Leupold scope and have not yet contacted the factory to see what they will do to fix it.
I own 14 of these beauties and many of my friends have switched to this scope. They are all glad they did. Plus hoe can you beat MADE IN THE USA and a lifetime guarantee.
